The Squirrel Cage is an upscale cafe in downtown Windsor owned and operated by Toronto transplants John Ansell and Steven Thompson. Whose love of finely tuned homemade food and a desire to create a restaurant from the ground up brought them here, to Windsor.

Squirrel cage is my fave
May 11, 2014Been to squirrel cage twice, both times I loved it. Got the windsor, which is soo good, and spinach salad that comes with it. Love the dressing! (Normally I don't eat spinach this way, but this time couldn't resist) this place is a gem in windsor. Highly recccommend it.

Best cafe, hands down
May 10, 2014I have been eating at the squirrel cage since they opened. They have great coffee - I regularly buy their roasted coffee to take home and brew - and great paninis. The "Windsor" is my favourite. Grilled chicken breast, tomato, onion and cheese with homemade garlic aioli = delicious. The last two weekends we have had brunch at the cage... more

Unique atmosphere, good food
May 05, 2014Not easy to find, tucked between two main roads but worth looking for. We had a great brunch, Eggs Benedict is my favorite and this was really good. They place is built with emphasis on a tree structure - you walk in and up a flight of stairs. Natural wood look to the front of the servers area and tops... more
