Return to The Bijou... After much encouragement from the music industry, friends, and family, Halifax blues diva, Kelly McGuire, is back on the scene with a new band and a new moniker. Host of the weekly cabaret show, "Lulu's Bijou Riview", (formerly at the Velvet Olive in Halifax, now closed), and still a regular guest at local Blues shows, it has been almost 10 years since Kelly has... more

Excellent - Great Wine List

We had the Warm Spinach Salad to start and it was phenomenal, as was my entree, Pan Seared Halibut. My wife had the Roasted Breast of Chicken and she thoroughly enjoyed it as well; neither of us had room for dessert. If you are looking for a full-bodied red wine, try the '02 Grant Burge "Holy Trinity" - hold onto your seat when you drink it because it is awesome.

The service is always beyond excellent.

The Press Gang is, without question, the best restaurant in Halifax.

While ambiance and service is what I expected, having been recommended by a son who ate there last year, I was disappointed in the quality of my meal (steak and crab leg). I did not mention it while there as I did not want to disrupt a special occasion with a complaint and ensuing discussion. My dinner partner appeared satisfied with the rack of lamb.
The steak, while cooked to my satisfaction,... more

A culinary adventure.

While in Halifax we used Open Table to find a near by restaurant. We were pleasantly suprised by the unique dining experience in this historic location. The wine list was extensive, the scotch flights were interesting and well paired. The food was very good and the wait staff was friendly, prompt and efficient. Will definitely return!

The dining room is steeped in 250 years of history with exposed stone, wood beams and candlelight throughout. The "Galley Bites" tapas bar with raw oyster bar is a feature of the main room, while the chef offers fresh seafood, organic meats and some vegetarian fare in the dining room. Extensive wine list with featured wines available by the glass. Reservations recommended. Open daily, 5:30pm to... more

This one-time private mansion is now a friendly and lively meeting place for the after-work and late-dining crowd, just a couple of blocks up from the waterfront. The paella is the best in town: a savory mixture of saffron rice with sherry and shellfish, sausage and red bell peppers. The Grilled salmon with caviar and cream is to die for; try their special offering: Martin's Drill, a... more
