The raison d’etre of TAZ RECORDS is and always has been to be the best and most interesting record store possible. It is a dream come true to provide, if possible, the most knowledgeable staff and most broad based varied stock possible to the general public – whether die-hard obscurities collector or someone interested in the top 30.

A Halifax Institution
Taz Records has been offering up vinyl for a very long time. Customers are often fiercely loyal. The selection is enormous, and it's easy to spend hours browsing.
I have always been able to find what I am looking for at Taz. The only problem is that I can never find it at a decent price.
You pay through the nose for that excellent selection and funky vibe. Unfortunately, it's been prohibitive in me really supporting the place as much as I would like.
I still buy tonnes of music and I love supporting local businesses, but I can't go broke doing it.
Definitely worth a look though - you won't be disappointed by the sheer amount of music you will find.

Looking for vinyl is one of my favourite pass times. This store is great. Lots of selection. On a plus side I always have great conversations with the people in the store.

I buy records pretty frequently... As frequent as the next guy. I've been to probably every shop in Halifax, and although I like them all... I enjoy Taz the most. It's just larger, which makes me feel like there is a bigger selection. Plus I don't get that feeling like in little shops... you know what I'm talking about, like you're walking into someones house.. and if I don't buy anything I... more

I guess you gotta hand it to Taz: they've been in business since like Christ was born, so they must be pleasing some people. Their selection is decent with a sizeable assortment of albums for most of the major genres. Their prices, however, are really quite over-the-top.
