Biggest scammers I have ever encountered!
I just took my cat with an obstructed bladder on Monday and the first thing the vet told me was that my cat needed surgery to remove kidney stones, which was going to cost me $1500. This was before he even checked to see if there were any stones there, no xrays or any tests. I was so emotionally distraught because I just didn't have that amount of money but he would not suggest any alternative. After talking to him for half an hour he printed out an invoice for $700 with a list of items he wanted me to do. I narrowed it down to what I could afford, which was the unblocking of the bladder and the medication. After I left and calmed down it just became obvious to me that the vet was just trying to get the most money out of me. I visited another vet today, Dr Munn at Greenwood Park Animal Hospital, who told me that only 10% of blocked bladders in cats are caused by stones. In most cases it is crystals, that is what my cat had, and he is recovering very well. He also told me that stones don't always have to be treated with a surgery. I am just disgusted by the greed and emotional blackmail the doctor at the Riverdale Animal Hospital practices. DO NOT TRUST THEM WITH YOUR PETS! (rant over)
A clinic to avoid.
If I could give it zero stars, I would.
This is definitely not a vet clinic I would recommend anyone in bringing their pets to. You are uncertain as to who is the doctor, assistants, or receptionist. The reason for this is because there is a lack of training provided for each individual and poor management.
I had a good friend of mine who worked at this clinic. She was attacked severely by a cat at work which acquired her to get multiple stitches on her face. She had to provide her own source of transportation to the nearest emergency hospital and had to pay for all her medication costs. When she spoke to the owner of the clinic, he refused to compensate her for the work she missed or the treatment she had to pay for out of her own pocket. Instead, his primary interest is to run his business, neglecting the safety of his employees.
I was there supporting my friend throughout the way. But, I simply had to share this with the rest of you because I would not be comfortable bringing my precious animals to this clinic because of their lack of respect for the well-being and safety of their employees. Do you think they would give your pet the right care and treatment you might be paying hundreds of dollars for? God forbid something were to happen to your animal, would they be responsible?
The choice is yours, because your pet certainly deserves the best.
If you are willing to take the risk, it may very well be your loss.
