Buyer Beware at Junktiques in Calgary!

I purchased an as-is wood island from this store on 9ave down in INglewood. We were in the middle of a massive renovation and we measured the island (length and width) to see if it would fit. It looked fine, we paid in full and said we would be back to pick up the FLOOR MODEL piece in 6 weeks.

When reno was done we had an electrical issue that meant an electrical box was mounted on the floor and raised up 6" off the floor (in a commercial space). We came back to Junktiques to see if it would still fit and found our island still in the same spot where we left it and we remeasured.

We concluded it would no longer fit as the bottom shelf was way too low.
The store owner, David Kaufman refused to let us cancel! A $3500 island that will not fit into our space and we cannot cancel the order? Even though it was an "as-is" floor model that never left the store nor was it "put away in storage" as he claimed he had to do.
After going to the Better Business Bureau and months of us trying to negotiate a refund, or straight exchange for credit towards something else, or a restocking fee ...anything, we were flat out told to come and pick up our island!!

Unbelievably horrible service, inhuman business tactics and beyond poor people skills!

I cannot imagine forcing a customer to take a floor model piece of furniture that they have measured for and cannot fit!
Buyer beware, do not shop at Junktiques, you will have no recourse no matter what the issue is!

I as forced to give a star rating and the lowest was a 1, they don't even deserve that!
