A cautionary tale to all women of Calgary!
I recently went to green apple and had a horrible experience that I would like all women to be aware of. I went to the salon to get a routine black colour and walked out in tears with a small feline sized dread lock in the back of my head.
The "stylist" (I use that term loosely as I later found out they do not all have to be licensed to work at this establishment, manager inclu) attempted to colour and wash my hair. Mid-wash she began speaking to the other "stylist" in an alarming tone in a language that was not english. Slightly alarmed i tried to feel my hair only to have my arm swatted away.
I thought nothing of it an tried to remain calm. After all, it was a long day and it was a routine colour and wash... I thought I was safe. However, after two solid hours of attempted brushing I noticed that my entire scalp had transformed into an enormous knotted mess. I continued to let the "stylist" proceed through a few more pants and puffs but soon realized my options were limited.
My bf showed up to pick me up and noticed the disaster immediately. I mentioned my concern on various occassions yet the "stylist" pressed on with her spray bottle and brush of doom.
I finally came to my senses and spoke up. It was then she mentioned cutting the hair and replacing MY hair with her $5 extensions. Panicked, I decided it was time to leave. The "stylist/placeholder manager" tried to make me pay for my colour before exiting.
Long story short, my hair/the dreadlocks were chopped and the back of my head is now a spiked bob.
After revealing my new do to the manager demanding she pay for the damages she continue to hold her ground and ask I pay for the colour and GI Jane haircut she forced me to get.
I caution all those who are craving a budget. Green Apple will destroy your hair and have no shame doing it.
Pay the extra $20 and save your locks.

Had a haircut and it was a last minute appointment - they got me in.
Xylia, love the name, cut my hair and she did a great job! Plus, she didn't mind having a chat while she cut.
I have gone to this salon a couple times and I've always had great results. This time when I went they had a new apprentice, Minh (pronounced "ming"), working. It was his first day! He was very sweet and quiet, you could tell he was a bit nervous. He washed my hair and gave me a scalp massage, it was wonderful! He took his time cutting and styling my hair and was very detailed with getting it... more
