Poor poor service and food quality

We arrived the hostess was very gracious and helpful. However,I must let you know of our disappointment as after reading reviews and researching we expected very high class service. Our waiter was very attentive and made us feel welcome in general. Following are some issues which effected our overall rating.

The Muscles were cold, Salad bar was lacking...when we asked the young lady tending the salad bar for more cucumbers(there was one slice left) we were advised there were none prepared so none available and no one to prepare additional cucumbers. Venison was good, wild boar was extremely dried out and seemed to be reheated. I found hair in my food from the salad bar, and the waiter commented perhaps it was my own..not very professional.I had noticed hair at the salad bar and thought I had avoided it but obviously not.He made excuses that because there are a lot of people...and there was hardly anyone there, that these things such as hair happen. My daughters desert was to have had ice cream with it, but when it came it had whip cream and nothing was mentioned to us by the waiter. In the end when he gave us the bill,he seemed to be trying to push us out. Then when we were ready to pay there was absolutely no one around and the place seemed totally deserted. We felt very awkward and couldn't find anyone, the bar was cleaned down, the salad bar and muscle bar empty.....so where did everyone go? We walked down to the entrance thinking maybe someone would be there to take our payment, but no one was there either. Suddenly the waiter appeared on the stairs and asked if we were wanting to pay? Of course we were, we were not trying to get away with not paying and we still needed our coats. We were disappointed. I am sorry I could not have been more positive with my review.

Never even responded to email or offered compensation.....

As a business traveller it was always a must when visiting Halifax to go to Five Fisherman. What a great restaurant, whether you eat the all you can eat mussels or order off the menu, its always a delight.

The Five Fishermen Restaurant probably doesn't even need a recommendation it has been a staple restaurant in halifax for a reason. Can we talk about the all you can eat mussels they serve...I have yet to be hungry by the time my main arrives because I can't get enough of their fresh mussels cooked in several different ways. mmmm fresh mussels.

Close to all major downtown hotels and five seconds away from the World Trade and Convention Center, the Five Fishermen Restaurant & Grill has several seafood specialties that set it apart. They also do chicken and steaks and feature some excellent desserts like Maple Berries and Blueberry and Marscarpone Tian. The nautical setting, with its painted carvings of fishermen, lots of brick walls... more
