Beware!!
My daughter and her boyfriend have used Double D Auto Service on occasion in the past with no problem. However, at the beginning of this month, they left their car for front brake repair and to have the most recent left bearing repair re-inspected under warranty as there seemed to be an issue with the original repair.
Here is her story:
Les, the mechanic took charge of our repair and we advised him that we were working within a strict budget and no other repairs were to be made without authorization directly from us. He did call us through the day and asked about checking the right bearing as well. We reminded him again that we were working within a strict budget and although he could check the other bearing since he was already “in there”, no repairs were to be made without talking to us first. He acknowledged our concerns and we didn’t hear anything more from him through the rest of the day. Near closing time, we went to pick up our car and to our shock, we were presented with a $800 repair bill when we were expecting a bill in the range of $200 for the front brakes.
Les’ explanation was
“Well I just went ahead and did it and this is what the repair has come to”.
After the expense of finding a new place to live and the cost of move itself, we were completely unprepared for also having to pay an additional large repair bill on our vehicle and even asked if there was a payment plan available. Regrettably, there was not.
Fortunately I had just been paid but my entire pay cheque went to paying for that unexpected and unauthorized repair bill with nothing left over for the next two weeks living expenses. I had no idea how I was even going to be able to buy groceries or pay gas or bus fare to get to work for the next two weeks.
Let this be a warning to anyone wanting to deal with this company. We had no choice but had to pay the bill in order to get our car back. They may seem to be a reputable company on the surface but they are anything but.
Needless to say we will never go back!!
