i came here with my husband on a date and thought it was going to be a classier place, from what i had read about it. but it was okay, just not a fancy place, just trying to be i guess.
Cilantro's casual and friendly atmosphere hides behind a forlorn stucco storefront that would look New Mexican if it weren't on an urban strip of 17th Avenue. The walls hide a tucked-away garden courtyard with a veranda bar. The food here is always excellent, eclectic with feints toward California and Santa Fe. It was my cousin's birthday and we were looking for a patio to celebrate with fine wine and delicious food. Cilantro was a great choice.

A Southwestern California Cuisine restaurant may now be a cliché, but this place was one of the first and the food is consistently wonderful. The menu includes pizza with fresh pear, gorgonzola and Chilean sea bass with southwest tamale and ancho citrus chili sauce. The wine list is extensive, with more than 20 wines available by the glass. The decor manages to be both casual and elegant, and... more

The menu has a Mediterranean sensibility, although it pulls influences from California and Asia as well. Wood-fired pizzas are extremely popular, crowned with exotic ingredients and flavorful sauces. You'll also find chicken breasts dressed with savory toppings and a wonderful... more
